Fran Thomas is an independent writer, director, and occasional freelance editor. He is currently completing post production on a number of shorts, writing original scripts and actively seeking collaborators for a range of materials in varying formats.

  • Closed for Christmas – exploration of a commercialised Christmas in Birmingham. Debuted on BBC One as a regional finalist of the Orange BAFTA Gone in Sixty Seconds competition. 1 min. experimental dv.
  • Next Stop – travelling the sidewalks of NYC, dropping in on an evolving relationship. Debuted at Birmingham Cinem@tic, screened at BBC Big Screen Birmingham. 2 min. experimental 16mm.
  • The Music Hurts – a greaving man intercepts a signal not of this world and is drawn into a feud of stella proportions. Currently in post-production. 12 min narrative 16mm.
  • Miraculus Absurdum – define oxymoronic, the end. Debuted at the Chrysler 10 second short film festival. 10 sec. sting dv.
  • Chasing the Morning After – intuition in pill form. Debuted at the digital camera magazine 60 second competition. 1 min. experimental dv.
